I had the pleasure of hearing their music for the first time a couple of weeks ago when their album I’ll Be The Octopus was sent to me!
I will go ahead and say that it is probably one of the most interesting and unique albums I’ve heard this year. And I know I’ve used this phrase before, regarding that word ‘unique’.. but, once again, I must reiterate the fact that ‘unique’ is a good word in this case.
Portland, Oregon’s Dusty York is the founder and creator of Sad Little Men. He’s a former saxophonist turned vocalist/multi-instrumentalist. When I read that about him, I was curious if the album would have a hint of jazz to it, and it most certainly does!! Though, the album still fits in that ‘indie pop’ class (whatever that means)…
I know that we have a lot of readers in Portland and the surrounding area, so to you I say, find out when and where the duo (as Mr. York has teamed up with L.A. drummer Justin Roberts) are playing. Keep checking their site… sadlittlemen.com
To the rest of you out there, LoveSound’s giving you that strong nudge to go out on the interwebs and find some of this Sad Little music….
